I live on a small farm surrounded by larger farms and mountains in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. My inspiration for my work comes from what inhabits the garden, the pasture and the woods. In these places I feel close to what language cannot reach. Living on a farm here and when I lived in Vermont I have seen parachronism as the norm, using outdated technology to work the land, like workhorses to gather maple syrup and tilling the earth by hand. It brings us closer to another world , one so often invisible and unheard.
